10 Years of Creating Opportunities for Young People | Community of Purpose at Synergy Networking
This week at Synergy Networking, Gemma from Community of Purpose joined members for a particularly special presentation as the organisation celebrates 10 years of supporting young people and communities.
There were even party hats involved as we marked the occasion and looked back at some of the incredible work Community of Purpose has delivered over the past decade.
Gemma shared a number of heartfelt stories about the young people they have supported, the opportunities they have helped create and the difference that access to the right people, experiences and encouragement can make.
But while the presentation celebrated everything achieved over the last 10 years, it also looked firmly towards what comes next.
From Programmes to a Connected Community
One of the key messages from Gemma’s presentation was how Community of Purpose is evolving for its next chapter.
The organisation’s first 10 years have seen the creation and delivery of a wide range of programmes designed to give young people new opportunities, experiences and support.
Looking ahead, the ambition is to build an even more connected community around those young people, bringing together businesses, organisations, volunteers and supporters who share the same passion for helping the next generation thrive.
Rather than opportunities existing in isolation, the aim is to create a wider network where people can work together, share resources and open doors for young people across the area.
Creating More Opportunities for Young People
Throughout the presentation, Gemma shared some incredibly moving examples of the impact Community of Purpose has had.
Behind every programme are individual young people who have been given the chance to build confidence, discover new possibilities, develop skills or simply receive support at a time when they needed it.
That is ultimately what sits at the heart of the organisation’s work: creating a thriving community of opportunities where young people feel supported and are able to see what might be possible for their future.
And as Gemma explained, creating those opportunities requires more than one organisation working alone.
How Businesses Can Get Involved
Local businesses have an important role to play in building that connected community.
There are plenty of ways to support Community of Purpose, whether that is through funding, volunteering time, sharing expertise, helping spread the organisation’s message or using your own network to create new opportunities.
Not every business will contribute in the same way, and that is part of what makes the model so powerful.
By bringing together partners and sponsors who share a genuine passion for supporting young people, Community of Purpose can create a network of people and organisations all working towards the same goal.
It is a great example of what can happen when businesses use their connections, skills and resources for a shared purpose.
A huge thank you to Gemma for such an inspiring presentation, and congratulations to the whole Community of Purpose team on 10 years of making a difference.
If you’re a local business owner looking for a supportive community where professionals share their expertise, build genuine relationships and help one another grow, we’d love to see you at an upcoming Synergy Networking session.
